We built our original Nomad Pants around a singular vision: to create a versatile garment that can keep up with us and perform for a whole day, not just part of it. Through the use of a pioneering fabric and a tailored cut, the Nomads nailed it.
Phenomenal as the Nomads are, the truth is that sometimes we miss an old friend: cotton. Soft and breathable, it’s a safe bet that our most comfortable clothes are made from natural cotton fibers. On the flip side, cotton garments fall short in several areas, the most important of which for us is durability. For our follow-up pants, we knew we wanted the look and feel of cotton in a more durable and technical package.
After nearly a year of searching the globe for the perfect fabric, our friends at Schoeller came through in a huge way and a new pair of pants was born. Introducing, the Surface Pants.
Made with an innovative Schoeller cotton/nylon blend originally developed for performance equestrian wear, our Surface Pants are the perfect blend of old school comfort and new school tech. 51% cotton provides the comfort and looks of classic woven twills, while 44% nylon gives the pants hard wearing durability. Throw in 5% elastane and you have quite possibly the most comfortable 4-way stretch pants ever made. To top it off, we use a NanoSphere® treatment on the fabric which makes the Surface Pants water + dirt repellent.
But cotton shrinks, right? Right you are, which is why we pre-wash/shrink the pants to size so you don’t end up with a pair of capris after your first wash/dry. This also adds a buttery smooth texture to the pants.
